Meet Carmen our Senior Therapist.
With over 30 years of experience in the soft tissue therapy industry, Carmen Caruana brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work. Originally trained as a Remedial Massage Therapist, Carmen's professional journey has included extensive study and experience in Remedial Massage, Bowen Therapy, Pregnancy Massage, Myofascial Cupping and Cold Laser Therapy. Today, she focuses primarily on Bowen Therapy, while she continues to practice Cold Laser Therapy also.
Over the years, her interest in understanding the body and helping people with complex or persistent health concerns has led her to develop a particular passion for Bowen Therapy.
Carmen works with people from all walks of life, including those experiencing ongoing pain, stress-related conditions and health challenges that have not responded as they had hoped to other approaches.
She has a particular interest in supporting people living with Parkinson's disease and those experiencing conditions such as fibromyalgia, Long COVID, back pain and skin-related concerns, as well as the everyday aches, discomforts and physical stresses that can affect our quality of life.
One of the things Carmen hears regularly from clients is, "I've been to everyone and nobody has been able to help me. You're my last hope." It is often followed by another comment: "Why haven't I heard of Bowen Therapy before?"
These experiences have strengthened Carmen's enthusiasm for Bowen Therapy and her desire to increase awareness of this growing and increasingly recognised modality. She enjoys working with people who are looking for another approach and takes the time to listen, understand their concerns and consider each person as an individual.
Beyond her clinical practice, Carmen is actively involved in the Bowen profession. She is the current Secretary of the Bowen Association of Australia and serves on the steering committee for B-EAGER, supporting Bowen research. She is also passionate about encouraging and championing new graduates, sharing her experience and helping them find their feet as they establish themselves in the industry.
Committed to ongoing professional development, Carmen regularly undertakes further education to expand her knowledge and understanding, ensuring she continues to develop her skills and contributes to the ongoing development and recognition of Bowen Therapy.
Meet Joanna – Clinical Aromatherapist & Herbal Consultant
Joanna is a qualified Clinical Aromatherapist and Herbal Consultant with an extensive knowledge and passion for the therapeutic use of essential oils.
Her particular interests include Clinical Aromatherapy, Hot Stones Massage, Pregnancy Massage and Reflexology. Each treatment is individually tailored to the client's needs, preferences and comfort.
Drawing on her knowledge of essential oils, Joanna creates personalised aromatherapy treatments and, where appropriate, tailor-made home care products for clients to use at home.
Joanna also offers a range of therapeutic massage treatments, including Deep Tissue Massage. While she is not a Remedial Massage Therapist, she has extensive experience in therapeutic massage and has worked at prestigious establishments including Werribee Mansion and The Ritz-Carlton, where she has built a loyal following of clients who specifically return for her treatments.
Joanna is also trained in Reflexology, a specialised therapy involving the application of pressure to specific areas of the feet. Reflexology can be undertaken as a stand-alone treatment and is used by clients seeking support with a range of health concerns, as well as general wellbeing.
Joanna takes pride in personalising each treatment, considering your individual needs, preferences and preferred pressure.

Meet Jaime our Myotherapist.
Jaime is a qualified Myotherapist and Remedial Massage Therapist with a keen interest in sports injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
She enjoys working with people experiencing a range of injuries, muscle pain and movement restrictions, whether these are related to sporting activities, exercise, work or everyday life.
Jaime draws on her knowledge and training in Myotherapy and Remedial Massage to assess each client's individual needs and develop an appropriate treatment approach. Her skills include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, cupping and dry needling.
Alongside hands-on treatment, Jaime can provide advice on stretches and exercises to help clients manage their condition and support their ongoing recovery.
Private health fund rebates are available for eligible Remedial Massage and Myotherapy treatments with Jaime.
Meet Masaki our Remedial Massage Therapist
Masaki is a qualified Remedial Massage Therapist and Reiki Practitioner who takes pride in providing individualised treatments tailored to each client's needs and preferences. Fluent in both Japanese and English, Masaki welcomes clients from a range of backgrounds and can provide consultations in Japanese.
Her Remedial Massage treatments draw on a variety of techniques, which may include deep tissue massage, flowing strokes, kneading and muscle work, with pressure adjusted to suit your comfort and treatment goals. She is also experienced in cupping and can incorporate this into her massage treatments where appropriate.
Alongside her massage practice, Masaki offers Reiki as a separate therapy.
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on or hands-above-the-body practice that many people choose as part of their approach to relaxation and wellbeing. Clients have reported feeling calmer, experiencing greater mental clarity and enjoying improved sleep following their sessions.
Masaki is committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertakes further education to continue developing her skills.

Meet Danielle our Remedial Massage Therapist
Danielle provides Remedial Massage treatments tailored to each client's individual needs and concerns. She uses a range of techniques, including Deep Tissue Massage, Cupping and Passive Stretching, to address muscle tension, discomfort and movement restrictions.
Whether you are managing an injury, experiencing persistent muscle tightness or dealing with everyday aches and tension, Danielle takes an individual approach to help address your concerns and support your physical wellbeing.
She can also provide guidance on simple stretches to incorporate into your daily routine, helping you maintain progress between appointments.
Danielle is currently continuing her studies in Myotherapy, further developing her knowledge and skills in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.

Treatments Available
Remedial and Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage reaches deeper layers of muscles. It is used to break down knots and relieve pressure points throughout the body. This massage is beneficial for athletes and those who sit for long periods of time.
Static Cupping (traditional)
Jaime and Masaki are both trained in the use of static Cupping and can combine its use during their treatments.
Myofascial Cupping
Carmen and Danielle specialise in the use of Myofascial Cupping in our treatments, rather than the traditional cupping which you maybe familiar with.
Laser Therapy
Carmen combines the use of laser in her treatments when appropriate.
Laser light can accelerate healing in damaged tissues, and reduce inflammation and pain, it is effective in arthritis.
Bowen Therapy
Bowen Therapy is a gentle non-invasive “hands on” modality that helps the body to reset and repair itself. It consists of a series of gentle moves on the skin (or through light clothing) generally while the client is lying down. There are wide range of conditions that may respond well to Bowen treatments
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it's called essential oils therapy. Clinical Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health. It is know to assist things like: Stress and Anxiety, Improve sleep, boost energy, ease depression, Skin conditions such as Rosacea, acne. cradle cap and so much more. Skin care products are all individually made for each client. Joanna is our aromatherapist.
Herbal Consultations
Your initial consultation is a thorough, 45 minute session with a qualified Herbal Therapy Consultant - Joanna Mullins who is also trained in Ayurveda. It includes a full intake of your current health concerns and a tongue analysis assessment.
These tools are used to indicate the root causes of your imbalances and will enable Joanna to give you an evaluation of what she finds and establish the best plan of action to suit you individually.

Hot Stone Massage
Your hot stone massage will begin with a traditional Swedish massage technique to prepare your muscles. Warm smooth flat stones will then be placed on points of your body and used to massage and melt your tension and aches away. Joanna is highly trained in hot stones massage and salon treatments.
Reflexology
Reflexology is known for its ability to quickly relieve stress, harmonise the body and increase immunity – all increasingly important factors for people in all phases of life. Good results relating to pain relief, muscle relaxation, improved digestive processes, improved circulation and lymphatic flow can be obtained very quickly. This makes reflexology an ideal complement to massage and other tactile therapies.
Dry Needling
- Dry Needling is similar to acupuncture but is not based on the Chinese meridian system.
Sports Massage
Jaime and Peter particularly, can both assist you with treatment for sporting preventative injury care and if required injury care to get you back to your game as soon as possible. They can also offer assistance and advice with stretches.

"In the spirit of International Women’s Day, we shine the spotlight on Carmen Caruana, the inspiring woman behind Essence of Health (EoH). Established in 1996, EoH has grown from a one-person initiative to a thriving enterprise with a team of five therapists and an administrative support staff. Over 28 years, they have positively impacted the lives of over 5500 clients.
Carmen’s journey began with a personal health crisis unresponsive to mainstream medicine. This led her to discover the transformative power of holistic soft tissue therapy. Inspired, she studied the therapies herself, leading to the establishment of EoH. Her mission: to show people that there are alternative to dealing with bodily issues beyond heavy medication.
What sets EoH apart is its holistic approach to pain elimination. Recognising that pain and discomfort are tied to mental, emotional, and social factors, EoH treats the person as a whole. This approach, combined with a diverse set of therapeutic skills, allows them to provide highly tailored treatments to each client. Clients don’t just get a generic massage; they receive personalised treatments drawing from a wealth of therapeutic skills, including remedial massage, Bowen therapy, Emmett technique, aromatherapy, dry needling, reflexology, and remedial laser.
In honor of International Women’s Month, Carmen shares her insights as a woman in business:
- Be authentic, be yourself: Staying true to oneself can be a game-changer in a world often driven by stereotypes and expectations.
- Just Do It!: The right time to open your own business is probably right now. Don’t miss the opportunity.
- Ask questions and find your tribe: Surrounding oneself with successful people and building a supportive network can help overcome challenges and seize opportunities.
- Believe you have what it takes: Never think you are not good enough.
- ‘80-20’ it!: The Pareto Principle suggests that 80% of the outcome we achieve stems from just 20% of the effort we put in.
